School Hours
Shabbat School meets Saturday mornings from 9:30 am to 12:00. There are a total of 26 sessions during the year, beginning in mid-September and concluding in mid-May. Our schedule coincides with the Public School calendar.
Nursery classes are held twice a month from 10:15 am – 12:00. There are a total of 15 sessions. Check your calendar for dates.
If you are interested in Midweek Hebrew classes, please contact Esther at educator@bnaitikvah.ca
Attendance
Students and their parents are encouraged to view Shabbat School in the same light as ‘regular’ school. Tardiness and/or absenteeism impede the progress of the student and should be avoided when at all possible. We ask that children maintain a level of decorum in the classroom and treat the school environment with respect.
Contact Information
If you need to contact us during school hours, please call 403-875-2756. This is an emergency phone number only. If you need to contact us during the week, the very best way is by email at educator@bnaitikvah.ca. You can also call the Temple office at 403-252-1654.
Supplies
Students should bring the following supplies to school within the first 2 sessions:
Pencil box (labelled with name), 2 or 3 pencils, pencil sharpener, scissors, eraser, 2 glue sticks, markers (your choice of type and number). Students in Grade 2 and up should also bring a folder or binder to keep weekly work.
Snacks
Please send a snack with your child. There is a break mid-morning for students to eat, visit and have some outdoor time, weather permitting.
Parent Meetings
We have a very active parent committee led by Elise Thomas and Eric Greif. This is an excellent way to meet other parents and get involved in your child’s Jewish education. Proposed dates for parent meetings are: September 26, November 14, January 23, April 24. Mark these on your calendars and please plan to attend! All meetings begin at 9:30 am. Childcare will be provided for Nursery parents wishing to attend the parent meetings.
